Completed in 1766, Danson was built for wealthy merchant Sir John Boyd. The house was designed to reflect its original purpose, that of a country house dedicated to entertainment. The Dining Room presents a set of wall paintings by Charles Pavillon. Above the fireplace is Bacchus, the Roman god of wine. On either side are Vertumnus and Pomona. Boyd was a successful businessman who inherited a fortune from his father who owned sugar plantaions in St. Kitts. The panels showing fruit and exotic flowers are an indirect reference to the source of Boyd s wealth.47071837 N02 has added The Dining Room Danson House at 2012 09 04 14 17 41 and tagged as da6
