Best viewed, when you press L. We traveled to my favorite town of Dilijan in the North of Armenia, and couldn t miss the chance to visit Haghartsin. Now, the road taking to this old monastery is non less exciting and beautiful, than the monastery complex itself, because you drive through mountains and forests. But what surprised me most, is the fact that currently Haghartsin monastery is undergoing major renovation by Armenia Fund with the donation from HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. YYYYY YYYYY Wikipedia Haghartsin is a 13th century monastery located near the town of Dilijan in the Tavush Province of Armenia. It was built between the 10th and 14th century in the 12th under Khachatur of Taron much of it under the patronage of the Bagratuni Dynasty. Traditionally, an eagle was soaring over the dome of the main building at its dedication and thus it became commonly known as the monastery of the playing or soaring eagle Hagh means a game while Artsin a form of Artsiv means eagle in Armenian . Thanks for your visit and have a great day For everyone, interested in seeing Saint HripsimA Church from my previous post , it s in the list Patience, patience 21930057 N04 has added Haghartsin Monastery at 2012 10 30 01 29 50 and tagged as armenianchurch
